Frozen Brake Handle Strands Southwest Plane Before Vegas Departure

Rochester, USA – On December 2, 2025, Joey Frascati posted a video from Rochester International Airport (ROC) showing a Southwest Airlines plane unable to move after snow and ice locked a key mechanism in place.

He explained that the parking-brake release handle, which he referred to as “the tools on the back,” had frozen solid. The jet could not depart for Las Vegas until the obstruction was cleared.

Ground crew had to hammer and chisel away the ice before the aircraft could finally be released for departure.

Frascati captioned his post: “What ever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas but first you got to get there! The tools on the back of this ⁦SouthwestAir⁩ plane was stuck. Frozen. The staff had to call for assistance. This plane wasn’t going nowhere till that thing was removed.”
