Lebec, California – A wildfire burning near Lebec has grown rapidly to 220 acres, with containment still holding at just 5%.
Firefighters are making steady progress, but the fire continues to spread at a moderate rate.
All four Kern County Fire Department hand crews have been deployed and are currently on the scene.
Helicopter 407 was requested for night water drops to aid suppression efforts.
Additional air support, including retardant-dropping tankers, arrived early in the morning to support ground crews.
Motorists traveling on Interstate 5 through the area are advised to use caution.
An Evacuation Warning remains in place for zone KRN-535 as the situation develops.
