Simi Valley, California – On September 22, firefighters responded to a technical rescue involving an individual who fell approximately 15 feet inside an empty concrete holding tank under construction.
Firefighters from engine and support companies, along with members of the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team, assessed the patient’s injuries and used a flying stokes basket from a 100-foot aerial ladder to safely extricate them.
The patient was transported in stable condition by firefighter/paramedics to a local trauma center.
Firefighters emphasized that they train regularly in rope rescue, USAR, and other specialized skills to remain prepared for all types of emergencies and dynamic rescue situations.
