Mexico City, Mexico – On May 28, a fire broke out at the Portal San Angel shopping center on Avenida Revolucion, triggering a rapid emergency response and the evacuation of all customers.
Thick smoke was seen pouring from the basement of the center, where the parking lot is located. Alarms rang out across the building, prompting firefighters and Civil Protection personnel to arrive swiftly.
A video of the incident was posted on social media by user suninoureyes_, showing smoke emerging from the center with the caption: “Something is burning at Portal San Angel, I hope no one is injured.”
According to authorities, the smoke was caused by a short circuit in the machine room. The fire was brought under control, and there is no risk to visitors.
The Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection confirmed that no injuries were reported.
