Lake Havasu, Arizona – A boat burst into flames Saturday morning at Riviera Marina, prompting a swift response from County Fire Boat 18.
With strong winds threatening nearby vessels, the crew quickly towed the fully engulfed boat away from the busy dock.
Using deck-mounted hose lines, they brought the fire under control within minutes.
The boat’s operator made it to the dock safely and was not injured.
However, the vessel was declared a total loss.
Early reports indicate a fuel issue may have caused the fire.
The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on May 24.
As thousands gather in the Havasu area for Memorial Day weekend, County Fire Stations 32 in Needles and 18 in Havasu have increased staffing to meet demand.
Boat 18 had already responded to a similar fire the day before and several other emergencies.
San Bernardino County Sheriff Air Rescue 306, with two County Fire paramedics aboard, recorded aerial footage of the fire during its weekend patrol.
