Fierce Winds Wreak Havoc in Texas Town as Gusts Hit Hurricane Strength

Canyon, Texas – Residents of this small town were left reeling as ferocious winds tore through the area on March 14, with gusts reaching a staggering 84mph. X user Dr J B Boren captured the chaos on video, showing the sheer power of the storm that battered Canyon, TX. The wild weather, likened to a Category 1 hurricane, brought visibility down to a mere half-mile in town and even less in rural spots.

Dr Boren reported gusts up to 83mph across the region, measuring 76mph at their location. They warned of treacherous conditions, with visibility dropping to just three-eighths of a mile in Canyon itself. The storm’s fury shattered windows in several buildings, including the Westgate Mall, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Major highways I-40 and I-27 were forced to close after trucks were toppled by the gale-force blasts.

As the tempest raged, Dr Boren recorded a bone-rattling gust of 84mph that uprooted a tree in a neighbor’s yard. The dramatic footage and updates shared on X painted a vivid picture of a town under siege by nature’s wrath, with locals bracing for more as the winds refused to relent.
