Fierce Nighttime Wildfire Forces Level 2 Emergency In Parada De Sil

Parada de Sil, Spain – A powerful wildfire continues to burn in Requeixo-Chandreja de Queixa, leading officials to declare a level 2 emergency because of the fire’s close threat to nearby communities.

Video footage shows the intense glow of the flames lighting up the night as firefighters and a fire truck work tirelessly against the blaze under challenging conditions.

This wildfire is part of a severe fire season in Spain, with nearly 4,800 fires recorded this year—well above the ten-year average. It follows a recent major fire in Tarifa that has been extinguished.

Firefighting efforts align with global aerial techniques developed since the 1940s, now using helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft to deliver water and retardants effectively.

The Civil Protection Emergencies Service of Parada de Sil said: “A very long and complex early morning today at the Requeixo-Chandreja de Queixa fire in this same municipality after a level 2 situation was declared due to the proximity of the flames to several population centers. Almost 12 hours of work and 6 volunteers. The images we captured are shocking.”
