New York, New York – On Monday night, FDNY Marine Battalion got calls about someone in trouble in the East River. The night was dark, the water was cold, and the currents were strong.
FDNY members used thermal imaging and spotlights to find the person. They worked fast to pull her out safely. Their quick actions and medical care saved her life.
The woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The FDNY team’s skills made a big difference.
Chief James McCarthy praised the team. “The members did an excellent job. Their regular training paid off. They were professional and well-prepared. They used their equipment right and did great work.”
