Emergency Forces Distribute Blankets and Food in Train Stations After Mass Power Outage

Madrid, Spain – Emergency personnel have distributed blankets, food, and water in various train stations across Spain after a massive power outage left hundreds of passengers stranded overnight.

The blackout, which began at 12:30 p.m. yesterday, lasted for over 10 hours in some areas, causing widespread disruption to the country’s rail services. As a result, many passengers were unable to return home.

To assist those affected, the Spanish railway infrastructure operator, Adif, kept over 30 train stations open overnight, providing a safe place for people to stay. Stations in Madrid, including Puerta de Atocha and Chamartín, remained open, along with stations in Valencia, Bilbao, Santa Justa, Córdoba, and other cities.

Due to low nighttime temperatures, emergency teams distributed blankets, water, and food at key locations, including Atocha and Chamartín in Madrid, as well as Delicias station in Zaragoza.

Additionally, the Spanish Ministry of Defense provided assistance in other areas. They helped with the transport of travelers, distributed more blankets at other stations like Zamora, and ensured hospitals in areas where power was restored slowly received necessary fuel supplies.

The Ministry of Health has been in constant communication with regional authorities, ensuring that normal services have now resumed as power has been restored.
