Driver Caught In Darkness As Massive Dust Storm Sweeps Arizona

Arizona, USA – A video recorded by Manas Pathak shows a driver struggling through a powerful dust storm, or haboob, on August 25, 2025, as visibility plunged into near total darkness.

The storm was part of a series of severe weather events striking the region. Heavy rain and thunder accompanied the wall of dust, posing dangerous conditions across parts of Arizona.

In the footage, the overwhelming force of the haboob is clear, with the road nearly invisible ahead. Despite the conditions, Pathak continued to navigate through the storm.

The Arizona Department of Transportation has repeatedly warned motorists not to drive in haboobs, emphasizing the risk of multi-vehicle accidents in such near-blind conditions.

Events like this are common in the Southwest, where sudden and violent dust storms frequently transform landscapes into hazardous zones for travelers.

The storm coincided with broader extreme weather patterns across the region, with nearby areas such as Burning Man in Nevada also affected by severe storms.

Reflecting on the experience, Manas Pathak said: “Drove through it – was completely dark for a few mins.”
