Double Rescue Operation by Lombardy Fire Department Helicopter Team

Castelveccana, Italy – A double rescue operation took place on Sunday, April 6, 2025, by the helicopter rescue team of the Lombardy Fire Department’s Flight Unit. The team carried out two missions in rugged, hard-to-reach areas during the day.

The first rescue happened in the early afternoon in Castelveccana, Varese. A 32-year-old woman lost her way in a mountainous area and became trapped. The Lombardy Flight Unit specialists, using the “Drago 166” helicopter, located her and retrieved her with a winch maneuver. She was then airlifted to safety.

Shortly after, a second rescue occurred at Dosso del Liro, Como. Four hikers were stuck on a rock face. With precise winch operations, the team saved them and transported them to a safe spot in Dongo, Como.

Both operations showcased the skill of the helicopter team in handling challenging rescues. All individuals were brought to safety without further issues.
