Parker, Colorado – At 3:55 p.m. on June 24, South Metro Fire Rescue was called to help Animal Control rescue a dog trapped in a trench near a construction site.
The operation involved a coordinated effort between SMFR, Douglas County Animal Control, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Fiore and Sons construction team.
Using multiple fire apparatuses, responders worked swiftly to reach the dog and safely pull him from the trench.
The dog, named Carl, had gone missing from his foster home on Sunday and was found on Monday, June 23.
After spending the night at a local veterinary emergency room, Carl was treated for mild dehydration.
He is expected to make a full recovery and is now back in the care of the rescue group Big Dogs Huge Paws.
