Kharkiv, Ukraine – A wounded dog was rescued today by Ukrainian medics and emergency workers after suffering injuries in a Russian military attack.

The animal was discovered in distress, scared and bleeding from an eye wound caused by the strike.

Despite the pain and confusion, the dog allowed rescuers to approach. First responders quickly gave medical aid and ensured the animal’s safety.

The act of kindness has been widely praised as a symbol of humanity amid the violence of war.
