Devastating Typhoon Tino Floods Cebu As Coast Guard Scrambles To Rescue Trapped Residents

Cebu, Philippines – The Coast Guard District Central Visayas (CGDCV) deployed four Deployable Response Groups to rescue residents trapped by flooding caused by Typhoon TinoPH on November 4, 2025.

DRG Team 1, with 21 personnel, assisted families in low-lying barangays in Liloan, Cebu, where floodwaters rose rapidly.

DRG Team 2, composed of 20 personnel, provided evacuation and transport support to submerged communities in Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City, working closely with other first responders.

DRG Team 3, consisting of 16 personnel, was sent to Barangay Biasong, Talisay City, to rescue residents trapped by floodwaters. DRG Team 4, with 14 personnel, joined the operation in Barangay Biasong to expedite evacuations and support ongoing efforts.

Rear Admiral Agapito Bibat PCG, CGDCV Commander, supervised the rapid response operations, stressing the importance of timely evacuations and coordination with local government units to ensure the safety of affected communities.

CGDCV continues to monitor the situation closely, coordinating with local authorities for ongoing rescue, relief, and recovery as Typhoon TinoPH’s effects persist.
