Keokuk, Iowa – On Tuesday morning, police in Keokuk responded to a reported burglary in progress.

But the intruder was not a thief.

It was a deer.

The incident happened just after 7:30 a.m. at Tangles Hair Salon & Boutique, where the animal had smashed through the front window.

Body cam footage shows the deer panicking and trying to escape through a back window.

An officer can be heard saying, “Stop, bro. I know, you’re freaking out. Chill for a second.”

Police eventually used a catch pole to safely remove the deer from the building.
