Crane Collapses in Bangkok Earthquake

Bangkok, Thailand – A strong earthquake struck Bangkok on March 28, causing a crane on a high-rise building under construction to collapse. The dramatic incident was captured in a video posted by X user @Aspa_ZunNaNu near the city’s Chatuchak Market.

The user commented, “From this angle, you look so scary. I hope everyone is safe.” The footage showed the structure crumbling into a massive cloud of dust, with onlookers screaming and running in panic.

City authorities have declared Bangkok a disaster area. Rescuers reported that at least 117 people are missing in the collapsed building. Deputy Governor Tavida Kamolvej confirmed nine deaths in the city, including eight at the building site.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake had a depth of 10km (6.2 miles) and was centered 17km from Mandalay, Myanmar. A 6.4-magnitude aftershock followed the initial tremor.
