DeLand, Florida – A 9-year-old boy is back home safe tonight thanks to the efforts of the DeLand community. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office praised neighbors for their help in the search.

The boy went missing earlier today, prompting a large response. Residents shared his photo, searched neighborhoods, and even used boats on the water to find him.

A neighbor spotted the child on the edge of Lake Talmadge. He was found with a backpack full of supplies, unharmed.

The sheriff’s office thanked everyone involved in the search. They said the teamwork between partners and residents made it a success.
