La Guajira, Colombia – In a joint operation, the Colombian Aerospace Force and Coast Guard units intercepted a “Go Fast” boat northwest of Punta Gallinas, La Guajira, carrying 494.6 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. The vessel was manned by three suspects of Dominican and Colombian nationality.
The detection was made by a Colombian Aerospace Force reconnaissance aircraft, which directed the Rapid Reaction Unit of the Coast Guard Station to intercept the vessel. During the inspection, authorities seized a rifle with ammunition, as well as navigation and communication equipment, all taken into custody along with the suspects for urgent legal processing by the Criminal Investigation Section, SIJIN, of the National Police.
Preliminary tests confirmed the cocaine weight of 494.6 kilograms, with an estimated market value exceeding $23.7 million and the potential to produce approximately 1.2 million doses. Authorities noted this seizure significantly impacts the finances and logistics of transnational drug trafficking organizations.
The Colombian Aerospace Force and Navy emphasized their continued commitment to combating narcotrafficking and protecting national territory through coordinated, inter-agency maritime operations targeting criminal trafficking chains.
