Tegucigalpa, Honduras – The National Anti-Drug Police Directorate (DNPA), in coordination with the Public Ministry (MP), set fire to a large quantity of drugs at the Military Police facilities.
The DNPA reported that the drugs were seized during various police operations across the country. These efforts are part of the ongoing security strategy and fight against drug trafficking.
Authorities confirmed the burning of 786 packages of cocaine hydrochloride. These were seized on April 6 in the department of Cortés. The cocaine was hidden inside a truck and a pickup vehicle. It is valued at over 200 million lempiras, or more than $8 million USD.
Additionally, 417 packages of marijuana were also burned. These were valued at more than one million lempiras and were seized during an anti-drug operation in Lepaguare, Olancho.
Several government representatives witnessed the process to ensure proper handling of the narcotics.
According to 2025 reports, DNPA has seized a total of 1,313 kilos of cocaine and 810 pounds of marijuana in the first few months of the year.
