Civil Guard Carries Elderly Person In Wheelchair During Massive Blackout In Spain

Pravia, Asturias – A video shows the Civil Guard carrying elderly residents in wheelchairs up the stairs during a mass blackout in Spain and Portugal.

The power outage, which began on Monday, left elevators across the region unusable. In a nursing home in Pravia, Asturias, emergency services had to step in.

With no elevator access, 25 elderly people with limited mobility were carried by hand to their rooms. The Civil Guard and firefighters worked together to ensure each person was safely moved.

The Civil Guard posted on Twitter, saying, β€œIn a nursing home in Pravia, with support from firefighters, we brought 25 people with mobility issues to their resting places, since the elevators were out due to the blackout.”

One video shows a resident in an invalid chair being lifted up the stairs, highlighting the seriousness of the situation and the efforts of the emergency teams.

The blackout affected nearly all of Spain and Portugal and lasted for hours in some locations. Emergency workers responded to help the most vulnerable through the night.
