Car Struck by Train After Stopping on Rails in Belgium

Belgium – Video footage captured a dramatic scene where a car drove to the train tracks and stopped on them. The video shows two people getting out of the vehicle just before a train hit it. The collision caused the car to spin at least five meters from the rails.

Infrabel, the Belgian railway infrastructure manager, responded to the incident. They stated, “It was one less for the passengers of this car.” The company emphasized the need for caution at level crossings, urging people to avoid taking risks.

Their safety message was straightforward. “When the red lights are flashing? STOP immediately!” Infrabel also advised, “Are the barriers coming down? Wait, don’t cross!” They noted that if someone is stuck on the tracks, they should exit the vehicle quickly and call 1711.

Infrabel is a Belgian government-owned public limited company. They oversee the nation’s railway infrastructure and work to ensure safety standards are met.
