Black Cove Complex Fire Continues to Burn Despite Light Rain

Raleigh, North Carolina – Early this morning, a wet front moved over the Black Cove Complex fire area, bringing about 0.05 inches of rain. The light rain has not stopped the fire, which remains active.

Firefighters are working hard to control the blaze and stop it from spreading. They are focused on protecting homes and structures threatened by the fire. The N.C. Forest Service is leading the effort.

Aircraft are playing a key role in the fight. A helicopter from the N.C. Forest Service is dropping water on the fire from above. On the ground, bulldozers and firefighters are building fuel breaks to slow the fire’s advance.

Local and statewide fire departments are also helping. They are preparing to defend structures near the fire if it gets closer. The combined efforts aim to limit the damage from the ongoing blaze.
