Bee Rock Creek Fire Nears Full Containment in McDowell County North Carolina

McDowell County, North Carolina — The Bee Rock Creek Fire is nearly contained, according to a final update posted by the U.S. Forest Service on April 23.

The wildfire has burned 2,085 acres and is 94% contained. Rainfall over the past two days, along with more expected on Thursday, has improved conditions for firefighters.

The fire area between Armstrong Creek Road and the Blue Ridge Parkway remains closed for public safety. Portions of the Blue Ridge Parkway are also closed. Visitors are advised to check the National Park Service website for updates before traveling.

McDowell County Emergency Management has lifted the evacuation order for Wild Acres Road and Wild Acres Retreat. However, residents are being asked to stay alert and cautious as firefighting operations continue in the area.
