St. Augustine, Florida – Law enforcement responded to a bear sighting in the downtown Lincolnville area of St. Augustine.

The St. Augustine Police Department reported that the bear was located in a secluded area in south Lincolnville.

Officials urged the public to use caution if they encounter the bear. Authorities reminded residents that it is important to keep a respectful distance and never run. Black bears usually avoid people and tend to move on quickly.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) believe the bear has left the area. They plan to move the bear trap to a different location.
