Bear Ruins Tent To Show Campers Why Food Safety Is Life Or Death

Washington State – On May 20, Northwest Trek Wildlife Park shared a video of a bear named Benton having the best time at their annual Bear Camp event.

Benton was seen flopping around in his tent and checking out the food stash, demonstrating why campers must keep their sites secure.

The park shared a safety tip from Benton: if it smells good to you, it smells amazing to a bear.

Campers are urged to keep food, trash, and scented items in bear-resistant containers or locked vehicles—not inside tents.

This reminder encourages everyone to camp smart and respect wildlife in the Pacific Northwest.
