Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – At least 13 people were killed and over 90 injured when the ceiling of a nightclub in Santo Domingo collapsed in the early hours of April 8, Juan Manuel Mendez, of the Dominican Republic’s Emergency Operations Center, said.
The collapse, at the Jet Set Club, happened around 12:45 am, local news reported.
Footage released by the Dominican Republic National Police shows the recovery operation.
Rescue teams are working with heavy equipment to find survivors still trapped under the rubble.
Mendez said 46 people have been sent to hospitals so far, and efforts continue to locate those still alive.
The cause of the collapse is not yet clear, and officials are investigating the circumstances.
Emergency crews are setting up a base nearby to coordinate the response and support victims.
