Manila, Philippines – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS-DOST) reported an ongoing ash emission at Kanlaon Volcano that started at 03:24 PM on March 31, 2025. The event produced significant ash plumes reaching up to 1500 meters from the summit crater.
The ash is drifting west of the volcano, affecting areas in that direction. PHIVOLCS-DOST has warned residents of La Carlota City, Bago City, and other nearby towns to prepare for ashfall. This could impact air quality and visibility in these regions.
Alert Level 3 remains in effect for Kanlaon Volcano, indicating a high level of unrest. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure public safety.
The ash emission event concluded at 06:45 PM, according to an update from PHIVOLCS-DOST. However, the agency continues to assess the volcano’s activity for any further developments.
